Year 2001 is expected to be the toughest year in semiconductor history, with the global market projected to drop more than 35% compared to 2000[1]. Supported by strong domestic market growth, China became the only bright spot of the industry. The China semiconductor market is expected to grow 6-13% for 2001[2], defying adverse international market conditions.
