Iconic fashion designer and film director Tom Ford has teamed up with oh-so-stylish recording artist Justin Timberlake for the launch of his upcoming album. The release, titled The 20/20 Experience, is Timberlake’s third studio album, and highly anticipated as it’s his first in nearly six years. It seems Justin’s comeback will be visual as well as musical, with a strong emphasis on stylish modern menswear.

Sound Meets Style

JT and Tom Ford have been working in close collaboration to create Justin’s look for this latest musical project, designing exquisitely tailored bespoke eveningwear, suits and shoes. On the cover for his brand new single, aptly titled Suit & Tie, Timberlake appears wearing a stylish tuxedo with satin peak lapels, with a signature Tom Ford bowtie completing the look.

The official music video for Suit & Tie also features Justin sporting a series of classic Tom Ford ensembles; think three-piece suits, checked shirts and high-shine cufflinks. JT also pays tribute to his musical idol, the late Michael Jackson, in black leather loafers paired with ribbed white socks. The collaboration doesn’t end there; Tom Ford has created a full range of bespoke menswear for Justin Timberlake’s promotional appearances and live performances, as well as more upcoming music videos for The 20/20 Experience. It’s rumoured that Timberlake and Suit & Tie guest vocalist Jay-Z will appear in matching Tom Ford tuxedos to promote the single.

Award-winning fashion designer Tom Ford initially rose to fame in the 1990s in his role as creative director at Gucci; he is credited with revitalising the struggling brand, bringing back a touch of glamour with his satin shirts, velvet hipsters and metallic patent boots. He also served as creative director for Yves Saint Laurent before creating his eponymous fashion label.

The collaboration with Ford isn’t Timberlake’s first foray into the fashion world; in 2006, he founded the William Rast clothing line alongside Trace Ayala. The brand has since become known for its designer denims. The former boy-band member has reinvented himself as a suave and stylish gent during his solo career, during which he has won six Grammy Awards and four Emmys.

Ford describes the creative process with the singer as an honour and a pleasure. “I adore Justin” the designer told press. “He has innate style and enormous talent”. It seems these two great creative minds are well-matched, and I look forward to seeing the rest of Timberlake’s Tom Ford ensembles as he suits up to promote The 20/20 Experience.
